brewista kettle

This is our review of the Brewista Kettle.

Brewista’s artisan electric kettle is a professional kettle that can be found in every specialty coffee shop, but why is it so special?

Based on my experience as a barista, I highly recommend the Brewista Artisan Electric Gooseneck Kettle for day-to-day activities, whether you’re brewing coffee or making tea.

It’s a high-quality product that lasts and helps you achieve perfection in your coffee brewing.

I’ve had a kettle since 2019, and to this day, it doesn’t have a scratch, and I haven’t encountered any problems with it. It still works just like the first day I bought it.

BTW, here’s my final rating of the Brewista Kettle:

9.4out of 10

Curious about why I gave this kettle the above score—and if the Brewista is really all it’s hyped up to be? Then keep reading because that’s exactly what we’re going to dive into in this review.

What Is The Brewista Artisan Kettle Made Of?

First of all, let’s talk about Brewista. Brewista is a group of engineers, designers, and specialty coffee lovers who are doing a great job innovating the specialty coffee industry. They make their Brewista Artisan Kettle in Wyoming.

The kettle itself is made of ASTM food-grade 304 stainless steel.

Stainless steel plate is a standard 18-8 material, meaning it contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, which ensures high quality. The kettle also has a wooden handle, providing a soft grip.

You can set the temperature between 40-100°C and switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit. But the kettle offers even more amazing features.

There’s a button that allows you to maintain the water temperature at your desired level, which is especially helpful when brewing a V60 because the water temperature needs to be precise.

The gooseneck design helps control the water flow, ensuring a consistent pour without having to worry about pouring too slowly or too quickly.

The Brewista Kettle’s Features

Temperature Control

The Brewista kettle has precise temperature control, allowing you to heat water to the ideal brewing temperature. It usually operates in the range of 140°F to 212°F (60°C to 100°C), and you can adjust the temperature in single-degree increments.

Gooseneck Spout

The gooseneck spout on the kettle enables better control of the water flow. This feature is especially advantageous for pour-over coffee brewing techniques like the V60 or Chemex, where a steady and regulated pour is crucial.

Design and Material

Brewista kettles often feature a sleek and contemporary appearance, with a stainless steel body that is both durable and easy to clean. They also have an ergonomic handle and a comfortable grip for precise pouring.

The kettle’s capacity can vary depending on the model, but most Brewista kettles have a capacity ranging from 20 to 40 ounces (0.6 to 1.2 liters). Choose a size that suits your brewing needs and the amount of coffee or tea you typically prepare.

Brewista Kettle Components

The components of the Brewista kettle can vary depending on the model and edition. However, the following are the typical parts of a Brewista kettle:

Body of the Kettle

The main body of the kettle is made of stainless steel and usually contains the heating element and controls. This is where the water is heated and refilled.

The lid covers the entrance of the kettle and helps retain heat and steam. It typically has a handle for easy removal and access inside.

The handle provides a secure grip for holding and pouring the kettle. It is designed to remain cool to the touch to prevent burns.

Gooseneck Spout

One distinguishing feature of Brewista kettles is the gooseneck spout. Its long and narrow shape allows for precise control and a slow, even pour. This type of spout is particularly well-suited for pour-over coffee brewing techniques.

Temperature Control Panel

Most Brewista kettles have a temperature control panel or buttons on the body. This panel allows you to set and adjust the desired water temperature for brewing.

Temperature Display

Some models of Brewista kettles feature a digital display that shows the current water temperature. This ensures accuracy when brewing within specific temperature ranges and allows you to monitor the heating process.

Flow Rate Control (Optional)

Certain types of Brewista kettles may have a flow rate control knob or switch. This gives you additional control over the brewing process by allowing you to adjust the rate at which water flows from the gooseneck spout.

Built-in Timer

Some Brewista kettle models include a built-in timer. The timer is often visible on the temperature control panel or digital display, enabling you to keep precise track of the brewing process without using a separate timer.

How To Use The Brewista Artisan Kettle

  1. Fill the Kettle

  1. Place the Kettle on the Base

Position the kettle on the power base, ensuring proper alignment and a secure fit.

  1. Connect the Power Cord

Insert the power cord into a compatible electrical outlet.

  1. Adjust the Preferred Temperature

If your Brewista kettle has temperature control, use the buttons or control panel to set the desired water temperature for your brewing process. You can adjust the temperature in one-degree increments.

  1. Turn on the Kettle

Press the power button or activate the control panel to turn on the kettle. The heating process will begin, and the water in the kettle will start to heat up.

  1. Monitor the Temperature
brewista kettle

If your kettle has a temperature display, you can monitor the rising temperature of the water. This helps ensure that the water reaches the ideal temperature for brewing.

  1. Optional: Adjust Flow Rate or Timer

If your Brewista kettle includes a flow rate control or an integrated timer, you can adjust these settings to suit your preferences or the brewing method you are using. The flow rate control allows you to adjust the water flow from the gooseneck spout, while the timer keeps track of the brewing time.

  1. Wait for Heating Completion

Allow the kettle to heat the water until it reaches the desired temperature. The kettle may automatically shut off or indicate when the water has reached the set temperature.

  1. Pour with Precision
brewista kettle

Once the water has reached the desired temperature, hold the kettle’s handle and pour the water using the gooseneck spout. The gooseneck spout provides better control for precise pouring, especially for pour-over coffee brewing.

  1.  Repeat or Power Down

If you need to brew multiple rounds or keep the water warm for future use, you can repeat the process. Otherwise, turn off the kettle and unplug it from the electrical outlet.

Pros Deep Dive

Precise Temperature Control

Brewista electric kettles are distinguished by their ability to precisely control temperature. For the best brewing results, you must be able to set and maintain the water temperature at the right level.

Control of the Water Flow When Pouring

brewista kettle

Brewista Kettles’ gooseneck spout design offers excellent control of the water flow while pouring. This is especially useful for pour-over coffee brewing techniques since a gradual, exact pour is required.

Variable Flow Rate (In Some Models)

You can change the rate at which water dispenses from the spout of some Brewista kettle models thanks to the variable flow rate control feature. With the ability to accommodate various brewing techniques and individual tastes, this feature offers even more control over the brewing process.

Built-In Timer (In Some Models)

A built-in timer is a feature included in several Brewista gooseneck kettle models, which eliminates the need for an additional stopwatch or timer. Particularly for techniques that need exact timing, this practical feature ensures accurate brewing times.

Brewista kettles often have a stainless steel body and a clean, contemporary style. They are not only aesthetically pleasing but also strong and easy to clean.

Cons Deep Dive

Higher Price Point

Due to their specific features and accuracy, Brewista kettles are typically more expensive than regular electric kettles. Budget-conscious customers may want to take into account the potentially greater cost of the extra functionality.

Limited Volume

Brewista gooseneck kettles typically have a volume of between 20 and 40 ounces (0.6 to 1.2 liters). While most individual brewing needs may be met by this capacity, it might not be the best option for bigger gatherings or circumstances where a greater amount of hot water is needed.

The gooseneck spout design is advantageous for controlled pouring, but it may take some practice to master. For those who are unfamiliar with pour-over brewing techniques, it may take some time and patience to get a steady and consistent pour.

Alternatives to the Brewista Kettle

Not sure about the Brewista or just want to see what else is out there? I got you. These are my favorite alternatives.

Fellow Stagg EKG

ir?t=coffeehex 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B077JBQZPX

We’re huge Fellow fans here at Coffee Hex. The brand’s craftsmanship is really above and beyond, making you feel like you own a bespoke piece of art with every piece. And this Stagg EKG kettle is no different. It goes head to head with Brewista’s gooseneck kettle, but ultimately the latter’s control edges it a few points above the Stagg for me.

  • Superior: Cost (but not by much) and ergonomics
  • Inferior: Pulse pouring control and capacity

Bodum Melior Gooseneck Electric Water Kettle

q? encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B07G2MBM6L&Format= SL250 &ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=coffeehex 20&language=en US
ir?t=coffeehex 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B07G2MBM6L

Bodum’s Melior is a stylish electric gooseneck kettle with an edgy (and effective) cork handle and top knob. It’s way less expensive than the Brewista, but still works just fine. That said, you get what you pay for and Bodum leaves all the Brewista bell and whistles out at its price point. If you’re not into pour-overs at all, it could be a cheaper but still great product to go for.

  • Superior: Significantly cheaper
  • Inferior: Pouring control

Bonavita Digital Variable Temperature Gooseneck Electric Kettle

q? encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B005YR0F40&Format= SL250 &ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=coffeehex 20&language=en US
ir?t=coffeehex 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B005YR0F40

The Bonavita Digital Variable Temperature Gooseneck Electric Kettle is very similar to Brewista’s Artisan Electric option we’re reviewing here. But there are some key distinctions to keep in mind. For one, Bonavita offers a size up capacity-wise from Brewista, but doesn’t feature the same levels of control of pouring and temperature that we love.

  • Superior: Capacity options
  • Inferior: Timing options, pouring precision, and accuracy

Our Verdict

The Brewista gooseneck kettle is an easy hands-down buy for me because, if you’ve seen any of my other tutorials here on Coffee Hex—like this one on how to make the perfect V60 brew—you may have correctly assumed that precision, control, and quality are all non-negotiable for me in a kettle.

The Brewista brings all three to my daily life brewing V60s in a specialty coffee shop. It’s truly great if those features matter most to you, as they do for me. You can pick one up on Amazon:
